Video: JON OLIVA Brings 'Storytellers Tour' To St. Petersburg
More than thirty years after the start of his career with SAVATAGE, and successive projects/bands like TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA and JON OLIVA'S PAIN, now-legendary songwriter and performer Jon Oliva brought his "Storytellers Tour" to State Theatre in St. Petersburg, Florida on Saturday, December 14. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below. The result is a high-class, thrilling musical journey, something all lovers from rock to metal shouldn't miss. "Raise The Curtain" was released on June 21 in Europe and July 2 in North America via AFM Records. Paranoid According to The Pulse Of Radio, BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi is not sure if making a follow-up to this year's reunion album, "13", would be a good idea for the group. Iommi said in Revolver magazine, "I don't know if that would be an anticlimax if we wrote another album. I'd like to, but we haven't actually spoken about it, you know? I don't know if that would be a good idea after this one, because this one's done so well. I'm sure we'd all like to do one. But I don't know. Maybe I should talk to the others about it." Bassist Geezer Butler added, "I really haven't thought about it. I'm just glad that we made this one. It can't be something where you go in and go, 'Well, that one was No. 1, so let's do another No. 1 album.' I think we'll know if we can do it or if we can't. If we have to force it, then we won't be doing it." "13", the first SABBATH album in 35 years to feature Iommi, Butler and singer Ozzy Osbourne recording together, went No. 1 around the world, earning the band their first chart-topper ever in the U.S. Ozzy said about the prospects of making another record, "I don't want to say there's going to be another album, because I don't want you to ask me in another year, 'What happened when you said you were going to do another record?' I'll leave it open. I'm open for anything. I have three albums to deliver of my own solo thing to my record label." Ozzy added, "We'll all still be doing music. It's been a lot of fun doing it with BLACK SABBATH, and I'm not sorry at all for getting back together." The making of "13" was marked by several dramatic events, including drummer Bill Ward's withdrawal from the project over a contractual dispute and Iommi's cancer diagnosis. Butler told Revolver that he started writing a song for "13", called "Hanging By A Thread", that was inspired by Iommi's illness. He explained, "It was very much about dying, about giving your last breath and passing your spirit on." But the track didn't make it onto the album because, Butler said, "We never came up with the finished thing." BLACK SABBATH will return to North America in 2014 for 10 shows that will be among the last in support of "13".

He rejoined them for a handful of live performances last year before officially becoming part of the lineup again in early 2013.
GARY HOLT Talks To 'Vinnie Langdon Show' About Upcoming EXODUS Album, Playing With SLAYER
EXODUS mainman and current SLAYER touring guitarist Gary Holt was interviewed on the "Vinnie Langdon Show" prior to EXODUS' December 20 concert at Slim's in San Francisco, California. You can now watch the chat below. Holt told Nikki Blakk about his plans for a new EXODUS studio album: "I'm heavily in riff mode [right now]. It's always hard to gauge where a record's going right away, but you kind of get a feel for where you're headed mentally, and right now it's really fast. It's ridiculous. "I wanna make sure that the [next EXODUS] album is as good as it needs to be, and knowing I am going to be on a tight time frame, it does tend to stress me out quite a bit. But I think I write well under stress… I hate the pressure. But I do what I gotta do. We all do. So we'll make it happen." EXODUS recently completed a European tour of 17 cities, with stops in Barcelona, Dublin, London and more. Although SLAYER tapped the talents of Gary Holt for their European tour, Holt performed at select EXODUS dates. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's JEREMY SPENCER Talks To France's LoudTV.net (Video)
France's LoudTV.net recently conducted an interview with drummer Jeremy Spencer of Las Vegas metallers FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH. You can now watch the chat below. The second volume of FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's two-record set, "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell", sold 77,000 copies in the U.S. during its first week of release to debut at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart. The first volume, which came out in July, also debuted in the same position, although it sold a more substantial 113,000 copies. Now that they've got a double-record set under their belts, The Pulse Of Radio asked FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH singer Ivan Moody what other goals the band would like to achieve in the future. "We've always said that the sky's the limit," he said. "You know, we've talked about doing everything from a movie, like a concept film, to, you know, toys, I mean lunchboxes, which we just came out with — we've just talked about how to make the band bigger, better. You know, I mean we always really got off on the cool stuff growing up and I think a lot of bands kind of lose sight of that. So we've talked about just trying to do something that we think would be fun or special for our fan base." The first single from "Volume 2" is "Battle Born", while the set also features a cover of the folk standard "House Of The Rising Sun", made popular by THE ANIMALS in 1964. "Volume 1" has sold more than 315,000 copies to date. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's three previous albums have all gone gold for sales of 500,000 copies or more. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will next appear on the five-day Shiprocked cruise, scheduled to depart from Miami, Florida on January 26, 2014. The band may also launch a second edition of its Trespass America festival tour, which premiered two years ago, sometime in 2014.

The CD, which was co-produced by Anette Olzon and Johan Kronlund, is a collaboration with some of the most successful teams in rock and pop in Scandinavia: Stefan Örn (songwriter and producer of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest-winning track "Running Scared") and Johan Glössner. The album was mixed by Kronlund, Nicklas Flykt and Ronny Lahti (known for his work with Loreen and Roxette). "Shine" release dates: Feb. 26 - Sweden Feb. 28 – Germany, Finland, Russia, Spain Mar. 03 – France, Benelux, Poland, Czech, Norway, Denmark Mar. 04 - Italy Mar. 18 - North America Mar. 31 – UK A five-minute video clip in which Olzon answers fan-submitted questions can be seen below. Also available is the official lyric video for the song "Falling". "I am so thrilled to finally release my first solo album," says Olzon. "I've been working on it for a long time by now... "The album is very personal with songs I have started writing already in 2009 but also very recent songs. "The overall message of the album is that life can be really dark and filled with hardship and sadness, but you can always choose to see some light coming through, to make you stronger and full of life — making you SHINE… no matter what." Regarding the CD's musical direction, Anette said: "In the end, it is a rock album. Well, a pop rock album, maybe, or would you call it pop metal?" Olzon in 2011 released two demo tracks that she recorded in 2009 for what was supposed to become her debut solo album. She said at the time, "The songs are not mixed or produced, just recorded in the moment, and therefore are very rough songs. But I still want you to hear them since I am proud of them and I think they show another part of me than you hear in NIGHTWISH." She added, "The first song is called 'Floating' and I call it the 'circus' song. It gives me a happy feeling and the vibe in it is happy and joyful. The second song ['Invincible'] is a song I wrote for my son and therefore it's very special to me." Olzon announced in April 2011 that she decided to push back the tentative release date of her debut solo album to after NIGHTWISH had completed touring in support of its then-yet-to-be-released new studio album, "Imaginarium". Olzon worked on material for her solo CD in 2009 with Swedish producers Stefan Örn and Johan Glössner. The album was slated to be co-produced by Swedish producer/songwriter Anders Bagge, who has previously worked with MADONNA, CELINE DION, JANET JACKSON and JESSICA SIMPSON, among others. He was also one of judges on the Swedish TV talent competition "Idol" and a producer of the TV series "Made in Sweden". Olzon in 2009 hired a personal manager — the Swedish management company Hagenburg Management, which also represents EUROPE and THE CARDIGANS. Olzon abruptly left NIGHTWISH in September 2012 in the middle of the band's North American tour. She has since been replaced by former AFTER FOREVER and current REVAMP singer Floor Jansen.
