METALLICA And IRON MAIDEN Promise Very Special Performances At Next Year's SONISPHERE
IRON MAIDEN and METALLICA, the two biggest metal bands on the planet, will make history this summer when they co-headline the Sonisphere festival in Knebworth, the very first time both bands have appeared together on a British bill, and the only concerts either band will play in the U.K. IN 2014. Both METALLICA and IRON MAIDEN headlined their first-ever Knebworth concerts under the Sonisphere banner and now these giants of the world stage return together to fly the Sonisphere flag once more; bigger and bolder than ever before. For the first time ever fans will have the chance to see both bands come together to head up what will surely make for one of the most historic festival bills in heavy rock music. British legends IRON MAIDEN will bring their immensely successful "Maiden England" world tour to a spectacular finale. Vocalist Bruce Dickinson comments: "We all grew up in England well aware of the importance of the legendary concerts at Knebworth, and scarily, it all seems quite recent! Without being clichéd, it really is an honor and privilege to return to play there with the purpose of celebrating some of the finest moments in British rock history from inspirational bands like PINK FLOYD, THE WHO, [LED] ZEPPELIN, THE [ROLLING] STONES and GENESIS. "This will be the last concert of our 'Maiden England' tour and it is very fitting to end a long and hugely enjoyable tour in our own backyard. "We have tweaked the 'Maiden England' setlist a bit to make it more representative of our whole '80s era and to give the fans something a bit different, especially as this will be the last of our three tours with an historical perspective. "If you are there on the day, it is highly likely that you will hear some of these songs played live for the very last time ever. So on an occasion like this, a celebration and the end of a chapter, you can be sure we will do our utmost to give our fans one hell of a show and go out with all guns blazing." Also headlining will be one of the biggest selling rock acts of all time, METALLICA. Formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and vocalist and guitarist James Hetfield, METALLICA are one of the most influential and successful rock bands in history. Next summer's performance by METALLICA will see the band delivering a "Metallica By Request" interactive setlist spanning their entire career. Says Lars Ulrich: "This just works on all fronts: "METALLICA and Knebworth, 'Metallica By Request', METALLICA and IRON MAIDEN. "To be invited to co-headline the 40th-anniversary celebration at the legendary Knebworth House is truly a mindfuck. Considering the iconic bands whose performances at Knebworth are part of rock and roll history, it's not only a next level honor, but a somewhat humbling undertaking. "And what could be more fitting on our third Knebworth go-around than to play an all-request set, chosen entirely by the fans? "We are soooo excited about the limitless possibilities of our friends picking what songs METALLICA get to perform on this forthcoming evening from the nearly 140 songs we’ve recorded throughout our ride. Who knows what crazy challenges will be thrown our way? Maybe a song that has never been performed live before? Maybe a few deep cuts that haven't been aired in ages? Maybe a couple of your toe-tapping favorites? An obscure cover? Whatever happens, it will be unique, it will be special, and it's all up to you. "Add the cherry on top… co-headlining with IRON MAIDEN, who are a big reason that METALLICA exists in the first place. Although we haven't played together on the same day since 1988, this is the closest we've come for 25 years, and for all our fans who share the same love for IRON MAIDEN as we, the band members do, this will hopefully amount to what many rock fans would consider a dream bill. "BRING IT ON!!!" Making this event even more special is the fact it marks 40 years of rock concerts in the legendary grounds of Knebworth House. Sonisphere 2014 marks the return to Britain of the Sonisphere festival which for the past five years has been the biggest pan-European festival, playing to audiences of over 1.5 million fans. Says Team Sonisphere: "During our two-year absence, we've continued to believe in and work hard on Sonisphere. "We said in 2013 that if we had the right line up then we would be back, and that's exactly what we’ve got in 2014. The omens were obviously on our side when we secured the two biggest and best metal acts of all time in the year that also brings the 40th anniversary of the first concert at Knebworth. "Our excitement at being able to offer METALLICA and IRON MAIDEN on the same bill for the first time ever has been hard to contain. To do so in a year of great celebration for the iconic venue is very satisfying. Sonisphere 2014 is going to be a legendary year!" Early Bird Weekend tickets for Sonisphere 2014 including IRON MAIDEN and METALLICA go on sale on Monday, December 2 priced at £170 (limited availability). The highly popular £50 deposit scheme will also make a return on early bird tickets. All campsites open Thursday. For further information, visit www.sonisphere.co.uk.
KAYSER: 'Read Your Enemy' Cover Artwork Unveiled, Titlte Track Available For Streaming
KAYSER, the Swedish band featuring former SPIRITUAL BEGGARS frontman Spice and ex-THE MUSHROOM RIVER BAND drummer Bob Ruben, will release its new album, "Read Your Enemy", in early 2014 via Listenable Records. Says band: "Incorporating the fundementals of rock and metal with vivid musicianship, KAYSER bring you 'Read Your Enemy'. "With a track listing of songs that have always been there but you would not find anywhere else, the album boasts organic stamina and confidence. With superior riffing and catchiness a mass appeal is to expect. "The neck-breaker title track, 'Read Your Enemy', originated from Swaney [guitar] as a double-stomp, classic palm muted heavy riffer. The chorus riff with its time change was added together with Jokke [guitar] to display contrast to the main riff. A sign of opposites which is commonly ubiquitous in KAYSER's song writing. The playful trade-off solos seal the songwriting marksmanship. Lyrically, Spice takes on humanity's ever lasting stupidity when diving into religious and ideological fundamentalism." "Read Your Enemy" track listing: 01. Bark And Bow 02. Bring Out The Clown 03. I'll Deny You 04. Dreams Bent Clockwise 05. Read Your Enemy 06. Almost Home 07. Where I Belong 08. He Knows Your Secrets 09. Forever In Doubts 10. Carve The Stone 11. Roll The Dice 12. The Fake Rose The "Read Your Enemy" title track can be streamed at this location. KAYSER is working with Sinemax Productions on a video for an as-yet-undisclosed track. KAYSER saw the first ray of light in early June 2004 when Spice, Mattias Svensson (also of THE DEFACED), Bob Ruben and Fredrik Finnander decided to join forces to create a pure metal band. The band's sound is fully immersed in true original heavy/thrash metal genre with emphasis on the muscular songwriting: hammering blistering and catchy riffs one after another, delivering the goods through scorching witty arrangements with fluid virtuosity. Focus always lies on the song, easily identifiable through the supreme vocals by Spice, though the emotional and musical expressions stretch from heavy introvert pounding to pure hate driven ferocity. "No boundaries and no limits... and that goes for everything," the members stated initially to set the aim straight. As for comparisons, it might be best described as a mutation of BLACK SABBATH, MEGADETH and SLAYER with dips from different good bowls of classic and modern metal. Popular for its incendiary shows, KAYSER enforces the pillars of metal with absolute authority. KAYSER became a much-talked-about live act among the metal fans, rampaging cities across Europe with bands like VOLBEAT and more. KAYSER is: Spice (ex-SPIRITUAL BEGGARS) - Vocals Swaney - Guitar Jokke - Guitar Biff - Bass Bob Ruben - Drums Simon Mårtensson - Organ, Rhodes, Mellotron (session musician)
PRIMAL FEAR: 'When Death Comes Knocking' Video Released
Frontiers Records will release "Delivering The Black", the tenth studio album from German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR, on January 24 in Europe and January 28 in North America. After some very intense songwriting sessions and pre-production schedule, the band started to record the new CD in summer 2013 at the House Of Music studios in Germany, with bassist/producer Mat Sinner and engineer Achim Köhler (EDGUY, MASTERPLAN). The band then moved to Denmark in September to finish the album, with acclaimed producer/engineer Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, PRETTY MAIDS, AMARANTHE) handling the mix at his Hansen studio in Ribe. "Delivering The Black" combines the strongest PRIMAL FEAR moments ever, with a well-balanced typical PRIMAL FEAR trademark riff vibe, crushing songs and some very ambitious musical journeys. The centerpiece of the album are two epic tracks, "When Death Comes Knocking" and the 10-minute opus "One Night In December", spiced with big orchestral arrangements and complex sound designs. Classic and ultra-fresh PRIMAL FEAR riff-rockers like the title track, the album opener "King For A Day" or the groove monsters "Alive And On Fire" and "Road To Asylum" hit the bulls-eye just like the untamed speed killer "Rebel Faction". The outstanding ballad "Born With A Broken Heart" shows a new side of PRIMAL FEAR with an acoustic guitar vibe and the addition of Liv Kristine (LEAVES' EYES) on backing vocals. Says PRIMAL FEAR singer Ralf Scheepers: "We worked hard to create our best album ever. I already felt the vibe during the pre-production that we were working on something very special this time. And now the result is just an amazing metal album I'm extremely proud of!" Sinner adds: "The songs, the production, the sound — this album is a very special one for me and my career. In my view, everybody in the band just did a killer job and Jacob was fantastic choice to mix the album!" The arrival of "Delivering The Black" is preceded by the release of the digital-only single/video "When Death Comes Knocking" on December 2 — a song which sets the pace for the outstanding quality of production and songwriting displayed on the full album. Check out the "When Death Comes Knocking" video below. "Delivering The Black" will be made available in a regular CD edition, deluxe edition with two bonus tracks and — in cooperation with Soulfood Music — vinyl edition and DVD and limited edition (666 copies only!) of a super-deluxe version, including a metallic eagle. "Delivering The Black" track listing: 01. King For A Day 02. Rebel Faction 03. When Death Comes Knocking 04. Alive & On Fire 05. Delivering The Black 06. Road To Asylum 07. One Night In December 08. Never Pray For Justice 09. Born With A Broken Heart 10. Innocent Man * 11. Inseminoid 12. Man Without Shadow * 13. Support on the trek will come from Swedish hard rockers BULLET. PRIMAL FEAR will return to North America in the spring with a headlining run that is scheduled to launch April 29 in Baltimore, Maryland and wrap on May 24 in Rochester, New York. Frontiers and PRIMAL FEAR in January announced that they have renewed their partnership for another multi-album deal, which will include two more studio releases and one live CD and DVD. PRIMAL FEAR's latest album, "Unbreakable", landed at position No. 44 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE Says 'Super Collider' Is 'Almost Like A Biopic Of Our Career'
Alan Sculley of The Morning Call recently conducted an interview with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below. On the latest MEGADETH album, "Super Collider": Mustaine: "I think 'Super Collider' is kind of like a really broad [distillation] of what our whole catalog represents. There's aggressive stuff, there's thrashy stuff, there's kind of more of the heavy metal stuff. There are some of the more introspective lyrics. There are some simple lyrics and soon and so forth. I think that's what really makes the record refreshing is that it shows everything that we've done. It's almost like a biopic of our career. It's a pretty good slice of everything I've learned over the years." On MEGADETH's current lineup: Mustaine: "Having David [Ellefson, bass] back and the relationship I have with Shawn [Drover, drums] and Chris [Broderick, guitar], we're a really strong outfit right now. Not to use a cliché, but it's pretty orgasmic. It's almost like [payback for] all of the ills and the ailments that we've had to deal with over the last however many years, with lineup changes and regime changes at labels and label changes and management changes." On working with "THIRT3EN" producer Johnny K again on "Super Collider": Mustaine: "He [Johnny K] went home [at some point during the 'Super Collider' sessions] and I just kept forging forward and used the engineer that I was using, Cameron Webb, who's been doing a lot of MOTÖRHEAD stuff. It was really funny because Shawn Drover, our drummer, is really, really quiet and a really professional guy. And he said he enjoyed his time more with the engineer than he did with the guy that was working with me in the production seat. And I was like 'Really?' He said 'Oh yeah, just night and day.' "I've got to tell you Cameron was very, very vital and instrumental [to 'Super Collider']. He's a great young producer. I really wish the best for him, and I know he's going to be super successful because he's young and he's totally got his finger on the pulse." On MEGADETH's current headlining tour: Mustaine: "We have video for all of the songs we're going to be playing and a pretty elaborate lighting set-up. We've always tried to keep the gimmicks out of our music because there are so many bands that, they just don't really have the songs, so they have gimmicks. So we try to keep it focused to the music." Read the entire interview at The Morning Call.
STRATOVARIUS Bassist LAURI PORRA Speaks To Australia's AndrewHaug.com (Audio)
On October 22, AndrewHaug.com, Australia's first-ever dedicated 24/7 rock and metal online radio station launched by Andrew Haug, the former host of Triple J Australia's "The Racket" radio show (originally "Full Metal Racket"; 2001-2011), conducted an interview with bassist Lauri Porra of Finnish/Swedish melodic metallers STRATOVARIUS. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below. STRATOVARIUS' latest full-length album, "Nemesis", was released via earMUSIC. Hailed by the media as, "the best STRATOVARIUS album in many, many years" by Metal Hammer Germany, "a collection of the band’s greatest hits that you never heard until now" by Metal Underground in the U.S. and "the strongest STRATOVARIUS album since the beginning of the century" by KaaosZine in Finland, STRATOVARIUS was once again able to live up to its reputation as one of the leading names of the metal genre, once again exceeding fans' and critics' expectations and charting all over the world: Finland at #3, Czech Republic at #12, Switzerland at #30, Spain at #32, Germany at #41, Sweden at #44, France at #56, Norway at #56, Austria at #62 and Canada at #126. "Nemesis" has a dark and more modern sound compared to the band's last album, "Elysium". It clearly shows how much the band has matured and grown as songwriters. At the same time, the band focused all their attention and work into creating and recording "Nemesis". Singer Timo Kotipelto spent three weeks recording the vocals in a cottage in the Finnish countryside.
BLACK VEIL BRIDES' ANDY BIERSACK Interviewed By Sweden's RSPTV (Video)
On November 30, Radiosuicide Photography's RSPTV conducted an interview with vocalist Andy Biersack of Los Angeles theatrical rockers BLACK VEIL BRIDES in Gothenburg, Sweden. You can now watch the chat below. In a recent interview with Artisan News, Biersack stated about the progress of the songwriting sessions for BLACK VEIL BRIDES' follow-up to this year's "Wretched And Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones": "We've got nothing more than some concepts, and that's usually when we do our best stuff — when we don't get too 'heady' about it and we don't try to delve too deep into something before it's ready. We did that going into 'Wretched And Divine'. Beforehand, we had started writing on the road and we went in with a producer, and it just didn't click, 'cause that's not the way that… The dynamic of the band, artistically, has never worked that way. So this [time] we're gonna try to go into it where, like we did when we finally met with [producer] John Feldmann and we made the ['Wretched And Divine'] record — we just jumped into something with a concept and that's about it. So I think that that's when we work the best — kind of that pressure-cooker situation, in a way, where you know what you wanna do and you have to do it now. But it would be nice to be able to do that over an elongated period of time as opposed to doing it in two weeks and then trying to get the record out." He continued: "Once this cycle is over, we're not gonna be disappearing or [having] any kind of time off or anything, but I think we're not gonna be touring for a little bit — we're gonna be working on writing and then putting out a new album that is as good as it can be. "We're always reaching for the best BLACK VEIL BRIDES record, so hopefully this next one will be that. I don't think we've done it yet." "Wretched And Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones" sold 42,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 7 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on January 8 via Lava/Universal Republic, the CD was produced by by John Feldmann (PAPA ROACH, THE USED, ATREYU) and is a full-fledged concept effort. The cover artwork for the album was created by the band's longtime friend, artist Richard Villa.
LITA FORD And CHERIE CURRIE Reunite For Holiday Song: 'Rock This Christmas Down' Premiere
Lita Ford has partnered up with her former RUNAWAYS bandmate Cherie Currie to record a special holiday song. "Rock This Christmas Down" marks the first time Lita and Cherie have recorded new music together since 1977. An exclusive premiere of "Rock This Christmas Down", as well as an interview with the Lita and Cherie, can be found at USAToday.com. The single will be released on iTunes tomorrow, December 3. Tired of the same old Christmas songs, Lita was ready for something new. "I thought the world could use a new Christmas song," she said. "The song was written by Mitch Perry, my guitarist and Michael Dan Ehmig, my lyricist, along with Marty O'Brien on bass, and Rodger Carter on drums. We so rocked it! "What I didn't know is that I'd be singing it as a duet with my long-lost sister, Cherie Currie. "I am blessed to have her back in my life, and what an appropriate time and song to rehash an old friendship. Christmas!!! "Cherie hopped a plane from Chicago to L.A., and drove straight to the studio and threw down her vocal track on this rocking song! Needless to say, it was magic and history in the making. "We were left with such a smoking track for everyone to hear, every Christmas, every year! "Let's rock this Christmas down!" Cherie was equally excited about reuniting and working with Lita again. "I have dreamed, literally, of seeing Lita again for over three decades," she said. "Even after all that time, I still thought of her often. "THE RUNAWAYS was something that was always left unfinished to me. Especially when it came to Lita, but I only knew her as a child. "What floored me more then the unbelievable gift of working with her again was the woman she had become. She is the bravest, kindest, strongest, most loving human being I have met. "Lita asking me to be a part of this amazing song and a part of her astonishing life has filled that void, that hole I had in my heart that maybe we both shared. It is now filled with love, support and admiration for a dear and wonderful friend whom I am so proud to say is Lita Ford. "'Rock This Christmas Down' has the flare of our RUNAWAYS legacy, but it's pure Lita. It rocks like only she can. "We took a dim, negative and unfinished past and turned it into a positive future. It doesn't get any better than that. "I know this will be the best Christmas I have had in decades. Thank you, sister!"

"When we first started the band, we were desperately looking for a singer, and my buddy had brought me a MAYFIELD FOUR CD and, you know, hearing the CD, I was blown away — this guy's, you know, not doing anything right now and he's this good?" he said. "I made demos and sent 'em his way, and he sang over them and he seemed to be into the songs and we loved what he did and he flew down January 2, 2004, and we've been a band ever since."

"I said to Tony, 'But there’s no guitar in Rihanna's songs,'" Bettencourt added. "He told me that's why they wanted me."
