WirgHata interview

WirgHata

WirgHata is dark death/black metal band from Russia.
MetalWeb have had a small chat with the band on their music and upcoming album.

What does the name WirgHata mean?
Alex: We'd like to leave a little mystery here.

How long have you played together?
Alex: We've been playing with the current line-up for about a year. The band itself is 4 years old now.

How would you describe your music style?
Alex: We used to play symphonic/melodic black metal. Then we decided to add more melodic stuff, more melodic death stuff I'd say. I think there're still some black metal elements in our music though. I guess we're playing something like melodic black/melodic death metal.
Igor: Brutal Power Metal :D

I have heard you are planning a new album, do you have any new info on the record?
Alex: We finished guitars recording a couple weeks ago. Keyboards and vocals left. Keyboards to be recorded next week or sooner. We're posting a record report after every session. You can check it on our youtube channel. Also check our facebook page for latest news.

Nikita: We're trying to inform our fans about everything including album recording progress. We're posting as much information as we can (photo, video, etc...), there're not so much left behind the scene :)

What does the new material sound like? Could you give me a taste of what people can expect from it?
Alex: Some people say its melodic death metal. Can't tell for sure what it's going to be. Perhaps something between Illnath, Blinded by Faith and Children of Bodom.
Nikita: We like to experiment and try something new. Sometimes we compose some contradictory stuff, but eventually we make it work. It's hard to establish the genre.

Do you have any tour plans?
Alex: We hope to make a little Siberian tour. Can't promise more so far...

What are your themes and song lyrics about?
Alex: Darkness, depression, solitude, phobias.

What are your future plans?
Alex: To go further! We already have some fragments and passages for the next album. It's going to be something different ;)

What albums and bands are you digging lately?
Alex: I wouldn't emphasize exact albums. Speaking of bands I can point out Children of Bodom, Epica, Nightwish, Mayan. But I listen to a variety of other bands like My Dying Bride, Shape of Despair, Emperor, Obscura, Jason Becker, Symphony X, Wintersun, Tracedawn, 8 bit music etc...
Nikita: I can't tell which band I like the best. Music is infinite, you can find yourself in every genre.
Igor: Nile, Exodus, Dimmu Borgir, Motley Crue, Necrophagist, Flesgod Apocalypse, Lamb Of God.

What do you think of the metal scene in Russia, is there a lot of interest for your music?
Alex: Metal scene in Russia is not so huge like in America, Europe, etc... More than that people go on concerts reluctantly I think...
Igor: We have a lot of good bands here but the metal gang is sluggish (especially in Krasnoyarsk). There're not so much people listening to this kind of music. Kataklysm, Marduk and Vader gig gathered half of a hall, just think about it...
