I have been into metal since before I can remember, starting out with BLACK SABBATH, AC/DC, HELLOWEEN, METALLICA, and other acts that made sense to me at that time. I am somewhat glad that heavy metal has been an accepted music style, but with that come all these "metal" bands who think they are metal but in fact are trying to be something they are not. I am of course talking about the the hundreds, if not thousands, of nu/new-metal bands. My personal opinion is that at the same time as they give metal music a push in the back (was it even necessary?), they pollute the scene.

What is Your take on this?

Nu Metal, it is necessary evil. I think when band started to jump on that bandwagon all followers were merely pain teens, music changes with the ages as well. The shocking fucking truth is that such big trend it´s pretty commercial and sold-out stadiums type thing.

I'd just loved to listen early works from Slipknot and Poison The Well, but those CDs on my huge collection remains in a dusty vault somewhere in my household, i just tend to pick those always reliable classics, Slayer, Metallica, Celtic Frost. Nu Metal as music is dying in essence. I really enjoy more progressive death metal, melodic death metal and some deathcore acts.

I'm curious know how people like Rob Nicholson (Blasko) can produce and manage such ridiculous band "Black Veil Brides" with that "Screamo" and Emotional punk vibe. I think is all about make money.

Check this video and later make know what you think:

Was some time since I was here. Thanks Heatweaver, I feel less alone now, although I am not sure I agree that it's necessary evil. It's bad for sure, but it's hardly necessary. As far as I know the Metal scene was just fine before that shit entered the picture. Otherwise you are right on the spot, of course it's all about money, everything is about money. It's the sad truth about this world.

23 million views for that crappy video/song! The teenage girls really need to find another hobby.

I agree on the fact they're very much polluting the metal scene. Now adays when I'll be talking to someone and we both turn out to like 'metal', it's usually not the same type of metal. This modern world thinks bands like Korn is what ''real metal'' is, when in reality they haven't heard any metal from before 1990.

Classic heavy metal needs to make a comeback.. but when it does, whoever brings it back better not ruin it.

these styles; scenester, pogo bounce,nu-metal,screamo, seem to be from the much younger generation of fans. everyone and there brother want to come up with a new buzz word to attract fans. while the fact they are all just flash in the pan bands. metal does progress on, it also recycles itself look at the big trend toward retro/thrash and stoner bands. I look at it this way you find a few people who will see through the crap and come around to the real deal. You will also find people out grow there music. Which is fine as long as they do not bad mouth the music they loved at 18 and now they are 21 and say that was for little kids. at least here in the states everything is money driven and record companies also help pollute the scene. I personally am not bothered because i take the time to seek out good bands old and new and learn what styles of music other people I chat with which then gives me a better unterstanding of a band they may like. It is refreshing to see the three before me also see through the crap.

Youth Gone Wild
So do I, i am agree with this, taking a look to the media and metal spots commonly known as MTV2, AVA, Music Factory showing this new phenomena is targeting a niche on youth and pain teens, simply they gone wild just because that new trend infesting media. But, is good to know bands like Chimaira sporting Tees of bands like Metallica and Shadows Fall sweating a Testament's Souls Of Black t-shirt. We need to accept something, they are looking to the past and creating a new sound, now the future is tense!...
