Wig Wam

Biography

Wig Wam – The Norwegian Eurovision Song Contest Winner 2005 – will be remembered as the glamrock band who redefined Euro song under the motto "Rock is the new släger!". Setting Norway on fire with their spectacular performance in the Norwegian final,Wig Wam is on everyone’s lips in the land of ice and snow.Wig Wam’s Eurovision RockSong In My Dreams has nailed its way through the hearts and souls of both youngsters and rock’n rollers as well as the common Norwegian people.

Norway’s hardest working live band has struggled their way to the top of the charts, constantly touring in every corner of the land. The four band members Teeny (guitar),Glam (vocals), Sporty (drums) and Flash (bass) persued individual musical careers with bands such as Dream Police,Artch, Sha-Boom, Ole Evenrude, Alien and solo projects during the 80’s and the 90’s. But in February 2001 the four glamrockers agreed on doing weekly jam sessions in rock city Haldens sleaziest clubs, which lead the way to a powerful comeback February 24 at Haldens most popular rock joint, Hannestad Gaarden. From there the wheels of rock’n roll were on fire, and the growing belief within the band and their fast growing fan squad madeWig Wam record their first demo of brand new Rock Anthems, just to be turned down by a disbelieving Norwegian rock industry. Despite their growing popularity no record deals were secured ‘til 2004, when the band made it to the Norwegian Eurovision final withCrazy Things.Wig Wam signed a license deal with new label Global Music, and made plans for the release of what was to become 667 …The Neighbour Of The Beast.

Wig Wam shocked the Norwegian people with an outrageous live presentation of the song, and made a surprising # 3. Two days later the album 667... was released, and a successful tour, 667 Tour, were lined up during the spring and the summer of 2004. Despite the lack of promotional backup from Global Music, the album managed to sell a decent amount of copies, and even sold outside Norway through AOR Heaven in Germany.

Wig Wam later parted ways with Global Music and signed with Norways biggest independent label VME/Voices Music after recording a brand new version of the Kiss classic I Was Made For Loving You for their forthcoming Kiss tributealbum.

Wig Wam recorded the song with Bruce Kulick (former Kiss guitar player) in collaboration with Kiss Army Norway. VME later re-released the 667...

album with new title Hard To Be A Rock’n Roller, taken from the track Hard To Be A Rock’n Roller which also was released as a single and music video. The music video was later banned from Norwegian broadcasting due to light nudity scenes.

Suprisingly Norwegian broadcasting was soon to invite the band to participate in the Norwegian Eurovision final 2005, which Wig Wam gladly accepted. Knowing this is the biggest Music Festival in the country, and the only festival to be broadcasted live on Norwegian television. Being in the middle of recordings for their forthcoming album through VME,Wig Wam was given the opportunity to pick any song, and chose In My Dreams. Blasting out the high adrenaline rock anthem in the final, wearing their signature Wig Wam outfits, Wig Wam rocked the nation once and for all. In My Dreams went straight to the top of the charts, and the European version of Wig Wam's album is now to be released with In My Dreams included as opening track. The album is titled Hard To Be A Rock’n Roller.. In Kiev!, and marks a new era for the glam rockers. Wig Wam is already breaking out on their Rock Schläger Tour which will take the band all the way to Ukraine.
