Tribal Spirits

Biography

Fast, hard, rough and a great solo. All you're waiting for when you are listening to these music!" (Metalfan 11-07)

"They know what thrash is about!" (Zware Metalen 10-07)

After a quick start and hard work is the result after blood, sweat and tears: Tribal Spirits. With a reasonable setlist are Alwin (Vocals), Jory (Lead Guitar), Daan (Drums), Wesley (Guitar) and Niels (Bass) charging the stages of Holland and beyond.

The fiveheaded unit makes a mix of heavy Metal with influence of: Metallica, Slayer, Lamb of God and lots of other bands. A rough and melodic sound with fast guitarriffs, hard drums and with recognisable vocals. In other words: Heavy Thrash Metal

TRIBAL SPIRITS announce themselves as being heavy thrash metal. They became complete three years after their birth in '04. The included biography also tells this 'Possessed' was released as debut EP and contains six songs - including the bonusses. It supposedly would knock us down (quoted) and with these statements it can either go to the positive side or backfires later on.

Starting off as an old-school Slayer album, Tribal Spirits seemingly indentifies with such material. Solid recordings and low adjusted strings. As the music strolls along little enthousiams remains. Perhaps it's just only this title-track ('Possessed') that slags. It just sounds just too easy without an sincere aggressive note. This goes especially for the drum fills. Second song starts with a more developed heavy metal attack. Although the solo lick herein causes for some difference in depth, the song structure remains not of interesting quality. To put it blunt: too damn nice and easy. 'Disclaimer' does manage to entertain with a more groovy thrash swing to it. A brittle hope ascends in the fact that Tribal Spirits have included the last two tracks as bonus. 'Dis-Place' is the better one so far as it actual gets to you with tempo changes, but the real treat is 'Dear Scapegoat', which is next up and last. After a neat intro when the vocalist threatens you (moviewise) a more sophisticated Tribal Spirits emerges. More aggressive and determinated than the ones before.

To conclude, the original four tracks which aught to be the essence of 'Possessed', pale in comparrison to the two bonus tracks. It does shows however the quality and potential Tribal Spirits has. Luckily for them, because otherwise none will be knocked down with this material.
