Stonechurch

Biography

This Swedish quartet hails from the island of Gotland in the middle of the Baltic Sea. The name of the band Stonechurch, is a translation of Stenkyrka the area in which the band grew up and are connected to. Although influenced by acts such as Iron Maiden and Metallica, Stonechurch have created a unique sound of their own.

The band’s most recent line-up have played together since 1999 and recorded their debut CD ”Visions”, which was released in February 2001. The album “Visions” created opportunities for Stonechurch on Gotland. The following summer regular gigs at a local club, “Effes”, a venue they have returned to several times over the years, were offered and accepted. In addition they were given the chance to play at Gotlands major rock festival “Vadstuck”.
Shortly after in 2002 the band recorded their second album “Goodevil” and promoted it by playing at Effes. Now in 2005 Stonechurch keeps working with their new album "Amplified". That hopefully will be released att the end of the year 2005.

Since Stonechurch began their march into the rock world they have attracted a large group of followers not only locally on Gotland but also on mainland Sweden, as well as in Germany despite having only released their albums locally.
