Ruby Bullet
by METALSITES.net @ April 16th, 2005Biography
The music of ruby bullet is complex, intelligent and technical - although you might listen through their entire set and not ever realize it. hauntingly angelic vocals, a relentless, zeppelin-esque rhythm section and crushing guitars can spellbind a listener so that he or she has no idea the song is being played in alternating 3/4 and 5/8. sweet and seductive turns aggressive and ominous. ruby bullet is nothing, if not powerful.
And nothing better showcases the band's flair for intensity than the their debut album, to be released independently in summer 2005. recorded with grammy winning producer and engineer jason corsaro during a three day session at coyote studios in brooklyn, ny, the trio captures all the energy of a live performance, organic, yet still hi-fidelity. brilliantly constructed yet deleriously executed, every song is a stand out its for content as well as performance.
Take a track such as 'fall', which drops heavily in a waltz-time, tumbles into a sparce, drum-driven verse and culminates into a larger than life, sountrack-worthy hook. or 'what i know', which lulls the listener with a jazzy-turned-ferocious odd-time intro, follows with a sirenic verse, sumptuously vocalized, to a lush chorus where we are finally desperate for sterne to reveal what she knows.
A modern-day progressive power trio, ruby bullet accomplishes what many bands cannot. their music pushes the envelope and finds new ways to play proven styles, all the while remaining absolutely musical.
