Biography

With a strong inner need for a Death Metal band Sam (bass), Andi (drums) and Chris (guitar) from Salzburg/Austria founded POSSESSION in December 2001. In spring 2002 the trio became a quartet by the addition of Georg (guitar) from Bavaria/Germany. Immediately the first signs of life were created to enter the local concert stages and festivals.

In October, half a year later, Georg had to leave the band because of his study at university. Instantly he was replaced by Gerry, in whose sound studio the first POSSESSION output "Storm of Hateness" was recorded under professional circumstances. But soon some insuperable differences between Gerry and the band turned out, that the cooperation had to be quitted during the final recording sessions. Nevertheless the debut release "Storm of Hateness" was published and the positive feedback of the international media and fans were surprisingly phenomenal, even for the band itself und led towards to more top-class concerts. Shortly afterwards in spring 2003 Georg completed the quartet again, that guaranteed the POSSESSION live inferno for the upcoming year 2003. In 2003 POSSESSION had live appearances at lots of established and important festivals like Walpurgis Metal Days, Kaltenbach Open Air, Skeleton Bash Festival, Dark Moon Festival, Metal to the Metals and did also a support show for Six Feet Under, which strengthened their position in the national and international underground scene.

Powered by that success the band organized their first Halloween Metal Festival on 31.10.03, which was a very successful venture again and further manifested their status in the underground.

Starched by the successful year 2003, in April 2004 the band did their first tour, which led them through eastern europe and countries like Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. The tour did not only rise their name of recognition, it was also a huge experience and adventure for the guys. The official responses at the good attended concerts in the east were awesome again and the gigs and recations were even more successful than at home. According to these facts eastern europe will soon be toured again! Though POSSESSION were composing new songs in 2004, live activities did not rest. POSSESSION was booked for further famous and top-class festivals like the excellent casted Metalcamp Festival in Slovenia and the Metallic Noise Festival near Stuttgart/Germany only to speak about the bigger ones. Even their organizing activities did not rest and in the beginning of March 2004 the guys originated the Spring Metal Festival and engaged Pungent Stench for doing the headliner part. After their own livegig at this festival POSSESSION experienced an unforeseen bitter defeat. All their instruments where stolen from the backstage room and where never seen again! Despite this big shock and financial desaster the guys did not hang in there and returned stronger than ever!
