Lair Of The Minotaur is an interesting type of doom metal. The lyrics of Carnage can best be described as a slaying of millions of heartless people...

*The intent is to make HEAVY FUCKING METAL based on the bloodiest tales in Greek mythology.

*Formed by Steven Rathbone in the spring of 2003 in Chicago. He enlisted Donald James Barraca (also in 7000 Dying Rats) on bass and longtime friend Larry Herweg (Tusk, Pelican) on drums.

*Recorded a demo EP in November 2003 with Sanford Parker at Volume Studios. Released March 2004, 300 pressed.

*Signed with Southern Lord Records July 2004. Recorded two more songs at Volume Studios with Parker, added to the 6 songs from the demo EP.

*Released CARNAGE (cd+lp / sunn35) in September 2004 on Southern Lord Records. 666 pressed of LP on red vinyl.

*Video for “The Wolf” released February 2005. Directed by Tom Denney.

*Recorded at Volume Studios with Parker in July 2005 for forthcoming EP and 2nd full-length album.

*Released CANNIBAL MASSACRE EP (cd+7? / sunn49) October 2005 on Southern Lord Records. Ltd. 2000 CD / 1000 7? (700 black vinyl / 300 red).

*Released THE ULTIMATE DESTROYER (cd+lp / sunn56) in April 2006 on Southern Lord Records.

*The song “Warlord” featured on the Tony Hawk American Wasteland game. Released September 2006 by Activision.

*Local pounder Chris Wozniak (Blood of Martyrs, Trifog) joins October 2006 on drums.

*Recorded 3rd full-length, WAR METAL BATTLE MASTER, in October 2007 at Volume Studios with Sanford Parker. Released March 2008 on Southern Lord Records (sunn91).

*Video for title track WAR METAL BATTLE MASTER released summer 2008. Premiering on the Headbangers Ball on MTV2. Screened at the Sci-Fi Spectacular and the Horror Society Film Festival in Chicago, IL. Directed by Gary Smithson (High on Fire, Goatwhore, Exodus).

*Toured the US and Europe extensively from 2004 - present. Played shows with Goatwhore, Usurper, High on Fire, Repulsion, Sunn O)), Khanate, Watchmaker, Grief, Kill the Client, Goatsnake, Unearthly Trance, Cattle Decapitation, Obituary, Unsane, Nachtmystium, Carnivore, Boris, M.O.D., Torche, The Ocean, Kylesa, Macabre, Capricorns, Monarch, Knut, etc.

*WAR METAL BATTLE MASTER dvd released January 2009. Featuring the uncensored War Metal Battle Master video and the TV edit. Also including over 45 minutes of live footage, behind the scenes and interviews.
