Biography
Hailing from VA Beach, Virginia, IRONHEAD is a hard-rocking, hair swinging outfit that combines dirty rock n roll and old school metal to create their own unique brand of full throttle motorsleaze.The band was formed in 2004 by three social outcasts (two of which are married) that look like the same group of denim & leather clad burn-outs you used to score weed from in high school. But chances are you never saw these guys/gal on graduation day since they were already traveling down the highway to hell!
Ironhead's first live performance was at the now defunct Virginia Beach biker bar, Michael Bob's. Their second live performance was one month later at the Rockeforum in Sarpsborg, Norway where they began a month long tour of Scandinavia. That's how this band rolls, hard and fast! Since then they have toured relentlessly in the USA and Europe playing with such bands as Electric Frankenstein, High On Fire, The Chelsea Smiles, Nashville Pussy, The Misfits, Monster Magnet, Mastodon, Electric Wizard, The Fuzztones, ADHD, Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction, The Smut Peddlers, Bible Of The Devil, Goatwhore, and Watch Them Die just to name some. They have also played sold out showcases at SXSW in Austin, TX, performed at the Midwest Music Summit in 2007 and continue gaining fans all over the world.
Ironhead's first full length CD, Livin' Like We Wanna Die, was released on Austin, TX indie label, Dead City Records in 2006. Their debut album received critical acclaim in Classic Rock Magazine who wrote"...Virginia based rockers Ironhead don't just look like your worst American nightmare, they also sound like it: jagged, slashing, venomous motorsleaze, lurking somewhere down the same dark alley where you would also find The Dead Boys, The Plasmatics, Motorhead or GG Allin." Ironhead has also released two split 7 inch records with Electric Frankenstein on Germany's No Balls Records and Conformist Records and Skateboards, USA as well as being featured on numerous compilations.
If you like it LOUD, HARD and HEAVY with rippin' guitar leads and over the top live performances this is the band for you and if you don't find what you like here chances are you just ain't that cool!!!
