Fright Night
by Winterm13 @ May 2nd, 2011Biography
The band Fright Night was founded in the end of 2005 by a guitar player Marianna Lukyanova. Originally the band was inclined towards a rather heavy Gothic metal but quite soon keyboards started playing a paramount role in the overall sound and the music became more complex and melodic.
In November 2006 the band started its concert activity. Recorded in 2007 came the first release - a mini-album "Inspired". It included 4 compositions: "The Letter Of The End", "Black", "The Cross And The Pyre", and a cover-version of a song "Rainbow Demon" by URIAH HEEP. All these songs were included in the debut album later. Fright Night's style is usually described as Gothic rock with dark wave elements though musicians themselves usually avoid labeling and imposing style restrictions upon themselves. Music is based on the contrast of a deep low male voice with an emotional and doleful female vocals. Melancholic beauty of melodies blended with raw aggression of rock guitar. These combinations leave none untouched.
Fright Night played concerts together with such well-known bands as TO DIE FOR, THEATRE DES VAMPIRES, DAS ICH, THE LAST DAYS OF JESUS, participated in international festivals "Deti Nochi: Chorna Rada (Children of the night) 5" and "Radio Inferno".
In February 2010 Fright Night released its debut album "The Play Of Pain" on the Jetnoise Records label. The band had a mini-tour over Russia to promote the album which ended with a gig in a Tochka club in Moscow.
In November 2010 "The Play Of Pain" was released on Ravenheart music records (England).
At present the band works on the new material and keeps performing live.
