Domestic Violence
by METALSITES.net @ May 9th, 2009Biography
The beginning 1991 - 1998
Started early 1991 as "Excalibur", Domestic Violence has been set up by 3 mates. To know Kees Paulissen on guitars, Arjan van Hoek on vocals and Appie van Nimwegen as the bass player. A drummer Eustage Mutsaarts was found really fast and practicing with (then still) covers was started. Because Kees could no longer combine "Excalibur" whit his other band "Engin" he decided to stop with "Excalibur". By means of Kees, Toon Wenselaars then started to play by "Excalibur".
In that time also a second guitarist, Alex van de Bemt had been found and Eustage was been replaced by John Marijnissen. The name changed from "Excalibur" to "Dela" and eventually into Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence then started to write their own songs and started playing in the local bars. Because again some members (Alex and Arjan) could no longer combine Domestic Violence with their work, Johan was being approached by Appie to replace Alex and Appie who has been written the lyrics started to do the vocals as well. Whit this band line-up:
Appie van Nimwegen - Bass and Vocals
Johan Kaal - Lead Guitars
Toon Wenselaars - Lead Guitars
John Marijnissen - Drums
their first mini cd "Domestic Violence" was been recorded. By the good impressions which their debut cd (brought out in own management) on everyone had, Domestic Violence was invited to supply a song for the various cd "It just a warning". On which upcoming metal bands could present themselves. And witch was released in several country's.
A depth point in that period was however, the departure of John as the Domestic Violence drummer. Already then Domestic Violence was on the break of extinction. But by purely luck Luc Geenen (now Witchsmeller Pursuivant) was found and prove'n to be a more than worthy new drummer. With Luc as the drummer a lot of good gigs were been given in the several bars and festivals out there.
To Continue or Quit 1998 -2000
The largest depth point in the existence of Domestic Violence was however, the departure of Appie in 1998, and short there after the departure of Luc to "Witchsmeller Pursuivant". In this dark period of Domestic Violence existence Toon and Johan tried out several drummers, bass players and singers. Until with; William Nijhof (now Foretold) on vocals, Ludo Hanzenbos (now Sauron) on drums and Jules de Laat on bass the line-up was completed for just a short period.
After the departure of Jules as the bass player just for a new gig, Appie was approached to take up his bass guitar just once more to help the band out. This one time period grew out to 1.5 year in which Appie also played the bass guitar on the new demo cd "Hidden Secrets". After the completion of this demo cd Appie definitively quit Domestic Violence after internal disagreements with the new band members. Domestic Violence still attempted to go ahead but was definitively brought down on the knees after Johan had left permanent to "Witchsmeller Pursuivant".
Domestic Violence reborn 2007
After there were some years expired, already there were some thoughts to play the old songs from their first cd on a one time reunion gig. This idea was finalized at the end of 2006 and a start was made with rehearsing the old songs of their first cd. All this took place in the studio of "Witchsmeller Pursuivant" where Johan and Luc were still part of.
The original plan to play these songs as the support of "Witchsmeller Pursuivant" was rapidly reconsidered into a complete set as the mane act. After this "onetime" reunion, (which took place on 31-03-2007 and was more than sold out) it was been decided to try and go ahead again with Domestic Violence. For this however, another drummer had to be found because Luc was too busy with his work to start playing in 2 bands.
This drummer was found fortunately very fast in the person of Kris Boenders who also sings (the now added) second vocal lines.
With these new line-up:
Appie van Nimwegen - Bass and Vocals
Johan Kaal - Lead Guitar
Toon Wenselaars - Lead Guitar
Kris Boenders - Drums and Vocals
there are already several good gigs been given. Also composing of new songs has been started. Domestic Violence has been again in the studio to record the song "The Legacy" what will be on a forthcoming benefit album with must appear in the better music stores…
Conclusion
Domestic Violence is back again….
