Daysend is a progressive Australian Metal band fusing an array of musical genres to create a hard edged yet melodic sound. They are a melting pot for various styles and influences ranging from thrash to hard rock and good old fashioned heavy metal. The explosive five piece rocketed onto the scene at the beginning of 2003 boasting members of various high calibre local metal bands, all with the passion and determination to take their wares to a higher level.
Later that year after a gruelling ten day recording session out in the sticks at Backbeach Studios in Victoria, the bands debut album, 'Severance' was released to much critical acclaim, and it was soon voted by Australia's youth radio station Triple J's listeners as #1 Australian Metal Album of that same year. A film clip was also recorded for the crowd favourite ‘Born Is The Enemy’ which soon became a late night staple on local metal video shows.
Within a short time they were tearing up the nations highways and skyways on an almost weekly basis, sharing the stage not only with Australia's best metal acts such as Alchemist and Blood Duster, but high profile international acts Slipknot, Hatebreed, Machine Head, In Flames, The Haunted, Strapping Young Lad and Entombed, and before long the legendary American label Metal Blade Records caught site of the band and scooped them up. While praise of Severance's musical ability poured in, both in Australia and internationally, they scored a highly coveted spot on the Californian metallers Otep’s North American tour in 2005, along with Gizmachi, Devilinside and Manntis, and for six weeks they raged and rampaged across the continent from San Francisco to New York, Michigan to Colorado and everywhere in between gaining a multitude of fans along the way.
