Cities Burn Away
by METALSITES.net @ March 6th, 2006Biography
Cities Burn Away is here to create the soundtrack for the collapse of civilization. Heavily influenced by black and death metal, CBA takes influence from bands like Carcass, Gates of Ishtar, At The Gates, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Dissection, Dark Funeral, etc.
Cities Burn Away was formed in November of 2004 in Las Vegas, NV. Craig, Joey, and Crash formed the band after splitting off from a former band that they weren't satisfied with. They regrouped as a 3-piece, with a focus on making no compromises, and within a month were preparing to record the songs that became the EP/demo Shadows In the Scenery, released on January 5, 2005. After playing a few local shows, it became evident that the band needed a 2nd guitarist to properly convey its message, and the search began. After 2 months, Kyle Watkins was found, and he proved to be the perfect fit. The band now has its eyes on the future, having released the "Return to Grey" demo/EP, and are planning more shows in other states.
