Carnal Grief

Biography

Carnal Grief was formed in 1997 and consisted of Johan Olsen, Henrik Brander, Johan Lindgren, Jonas Carlsson and Johan Larsson and aimed to play melodic death metal. They recorded 2 demos (1997 - Embraced by the light, 1998 - Cradlesongs) with this line up until Johan Larsson moved away and quit the band. The position was quickly filled with the eager guitarist Magnus Andersson and the the lineup recorded one demo (1999 - Wastelands) together but the soundquality on that recording was even worse that the 2 previous demos combined even though it was the first demo they got directly on CD. So the band decided not to release that recording.

During the recording of the debute-album (Out of crippled seeds) Magnus had to leave the band due to studies far far away and was replaced by Per Fransson (who later went on to Soulbreach), he helped in finishing recording of the album with some of his soloing. The album took a while to get released due to financial difficulties of the original label that showed interest in the band, so another label (Trinity Records Hong Kong) was contacted and the band got a fast release with proper promotion to support the album. The reviews on the album was far more positive than the band had imagined they would be.

Per Fransson got "misplaced" somewhere in the summer of 2004 so the guitarist-position was filled with André Alvinzi, 10 new songs was written and a new album entitled "9 Shades of Pain" was recorded in late 2005 which is awaiting release right now.
